Fish eye is a circular frame and wide angle distorts around edges

A fish eye lens is an extreme wide angle lens. The angle is wide enough to produce the characteristic "fish eye" distortion. Not sure about on camcorders, but you get this effect at about 10-12mm on a 35mm camera. For everyday work, you don't want the fish eye due to the distortion, unless, of course, you want that effect.
