Whatever you do - do not buy Sony. Last year, we bought the state of the art Sony Can Corder with a hard drive and it has been HELL trying to make DVDs and otherwuse share videos. It seems Sony uses a special format that is not compatabile with anyone - even all the great video and DVD programs have tough time working with the video format. All of our home audio/video system is Sony so we thought it would be a good brand but I am so sorry I did not ask around and do research first. It is a great camera but not if you intend to make sharable videos or DVDs. We have friends who bought other brands and they can make DVS and sharable videos with absolutely no effort at all. AND - they probably paid half what we did for the camera.
