I have a Canon ZR45mc camcorder and an Acer netbook. I read on other sites that a firewire cable is needed to transfer the videos to the computer, but there are two problems. One is that my computer only has USB ports. The other is that the camera has a port labeled for USB and not firewire.

So despite the fact that every source says this camera does not work with USB, this camera only has a USB option. But, as they predicted, it does not seem to recognize the camera.

Any ideas on how to proceed?
