Default Is there a Digital8 camcorder that plays analog 8mm and hi8 tapes, and is

compatible with Mac OS X? I want to edit my old analog tapes on my mac, and record new ones at digital quality. Surely there is a camcorder out there to suit my needs...?

If you had a PC i could name dozens of camcorders & free software to help you, even Linux but not on Mac. Anything Mac will cost you several times more anyway for nothing.

Look at the Sony TRV350 or TRV460. They have Firewire outputs and you can even use it to do analog to digital conversion of an analog input.
