The Samsung SCL700 is a Hi8 camcorder, which means you'll need to use a composite out cable connected to something like the Dazzle USB capture device to get video from your camcorder to a computer. Here's a video showing you the required steps:

Places like Best Buy and Circuit City sell the Dazzle hardware. You can also get the Dazzle video capture device direct from Pinnacle.

Ok...so I got the Pinnacle Dazzle DVD recorder from circuit city. I was a little leary cuz I think the box was returned. But I installed it today and it has 3 CD's with it...it really slowed my computer and even froze it at times. I really don't see the directions so I don't know if I should rewind the camcorder to the beginning or what. But I did and watched it til I wanted that DVD done to...it took like 50 minutes and then it went into something else over and over again and wouldn't let me out or anything...So I unstalled absolutely everything...now I want to know if I should only install the 1 DVD (pinnacle instant DVD recorder) and not the others. The others are a studio quickstart & a pinnacle studio bonus cd...it really added alot to my system that slowed it down. HELP!!! Don't know what to do here...Thanks for any help you can offer

You should only need the disk that has the editing software. The other disks have extra features, but aren't required. It might also be worthwhile to verify that the recommended system requirements for the software are met by the computer you are using - that's often the cause of any slowdown. Also, read these tips on getting better system performance when video editing.

| Jake...I really need your help here...I don't know what the problem is BUT...as I said before I uninstalled everything and then read your posting and only installed the one dvd I needed...ok fine. But I got no further than before. It shouldnd't take more than 3 1/2 hours to copy a movie to a DVD should it? It seems to be freezing sorta at this one point where the movie is overwith and then it says generating disc(or something like that) thats where it stays until after so many hours I finally have to hit control alt delete to get out of it...then I've wasted another blank DVD...I don't get what I'm doing wrong or is this item defected? It didn't come with any directions and I even read the how to guide...Please Jake what am I doing wrong...Thanks for all your help
