Default Lens Choice for HD Video Camera

Hey everyone,

I currently own a HG21 Canon Video Camera, and I have also purchased some accessories for it like the H37U Filter Set. However now I am looking at expanding my accessories and purchasing a wide angle lens.

The wide angle lens Canon released for this camera is the WD-H37 II, which looks awesome and I have seen a couple of videos online with people using it.

However this is my problem.

I am looking at buying a Canon EOS 500D / Rebel T1i or something similar soon, and I understand I will be getting lenses to use with that DSLR.

So I don't particularly want to be wasting money on lenses if I can somehow use the DSLR lenses with my Canon HG21 video camera.
