How to turn off auto zoom function on Sony DCR-TRV11

My video camera is auto zooming in on objects. When I zoom back out, it starts zooming in again. Is this some function I inadvertently turned on, and if so, how do I turn it off? I've searched the manual but can't locate this function. Thanks!
