Default How to download Video to PC from Canon Elura 100 camcorder?

Help. Anyone know how best to download and burn my videos and photos from canon elura 100 to my Windows Vista PC? I have a laptop without firewire port, and I bought a Pinnacle video capture pack but they donot seem to be very compatible with the Windows Vista on my PC. I have tried to install both softwares(canon and Pinnacle) and my PC operation was negatively altered, so I unistalled some of the softwares and everything seems muddled up, but my PC is ok now. How do I fix these video download problems?

There's a quick and dirty way of doing this assuming you have the necessary parts.I have one of the Elura models (don't know the exact one as it's an overseas model) and I discovered there is a roundabout way of copying video to your PC. I will say that this does work on my model but there's no guarantee it will work on yours.1) Make sure you have a large enough SD memory card for this operation.2) Play the video on the camera as you normally would and as you do, hit the record button.3) As the video plays out, it will be recorded to the SD card as an .AVI.4) Transfer this to your PC through any card reader. The bonus part of this is that it means you don't need to add any software to your PC other than whatever video editing tools you might want.
