| Your TV card may work. You need to look at your input ports on the PC and what output cables you have for your 8mm device (camera / standalone player) If you have a matching set of ports then your should be set.I used the composite ports and PowerDirector in this situation. |

| Im not super techy...but, I have a dvd recorder and a video player, my 8mm cam has an adapter to play it in the video player, and I hooked my videe outputs to the inputs on my dvd recorder [the dvd recorders sell rather cheaply now at places like walmart, mine was 49.95] and I play the video and record on the dvd recorder, then I can view on the tv or play it in my pc and save it there as well. |

| If your camera has a DV output you can conect it to your computer via firewire you need a firewire card/socket in your computer. this only works with digital video cameras not the older analog ones. Most sony and JVC cameras support firewire. if all the above is ok you can then capture the video off of your tape with windows movie maker click "capture video from device" in the top left corner of the screen, then follow on screen options.
