| I have a new Panasonic HDC-DX1P/PC camcorder and cannot discover how to transfer the recorded movie files from the DVD-R (DL) (mini-DVD) to my PC (a new Dell XPS 720 running Vista Home Premium). The camcorder does not appear to have shipped with any PC software (as it seems others do) and there is no mention of such software in the documentation. It did come with a USB cable - when connected the PC recognizes a device, but interprets it as a blank DVD, however there are definitely files on it. I have not attempted to load the mini-DVD into my DVD drive for fear that it will get stuck there due to the many strident warnings to this effect in the documentation. The documentation, in fact, makes no mention of transferring movies to a PC, however I find it difficult to believe that It can't be done ...... or was I seriously deluded when I bought this model? At this point I would welcome any way at all to get the files off the mini-DVD, even if the HD format is sacrificed. I just want to be able to play back and share these movies using my PC. I'll worry about editing them if I ever manage to get them off the camcorder! Thanks, Cgreen |
