Has DVD-RAM technology for digital camcorders been obsoleted? I purchased an Hitachi digital camcorder a little over three years ago. The owners manual describes in detail how movies recorded on DVD-RAM discs can be edited on a computer with the software provided, and can also be converted into .wav format in order to be more easily shared, emailed, etc.I have never done this as I typically have always purchased DVD-R discs (they record just fine, but can't be edited on my PC). I have been trying for the last month to find DVD-RAM discs and for the life of me I can't find them. Best Buy, Walmart, Ritz Camera, Radio Shack, etc. etc. I finally found some on a couple of obscure web sites linked with Amazon. (DVD-RW, DVD-R+ etc. discs do not work with this camcorder.)This has left me wondering, did DVD-RAM technology become obsolete? I feel like it was a bad decision to buy this particular camcorder and the technology may have moved on to where I should upgrade. |
