Default Digital camcorders? Buying advice please...?

I would like to buy a digital camcorder for use on holidays etc. Nothing fancy, but it has to be easy to use and have a good quality picture. I know nothing about them, can anybody give advice? Many thanks!

Don't buy the bargain ones advertised in the newspapers. Buy a hd camcorder, widescreen, Go to a specialist camara store.

Don't buy top of the line.Stores love to sell that to you, but video quality started getting seriously good ten years ago and has made many improvements. There are four different storage systems on which they record:Internal harddrive, (small) DVD, flashcard (like a digital camera) and tape. All have their own merits. Read up on it. Think about how you want to use your camcorder. Where will you store the movies you make? If you don't want to store them on a computer, then you need a removable medium like a DVD or a tape.Harddrives and flashcards eventually fill up and have to be emptied into a computer or the video they store is lost.Don't be fooled by resolution and HD and all that. Everything you buy is going to be fine. Only quality-junkies will buy the top of the line.Read up on it and don't pay top dollar. You get excellent quality for not too much money.
