Thread: A camcorder that will record for 8 hours?

Is there an affordable camcorder that will record for longer periods of time? If so what kind? I don't know anything about the different types of camcorders.....Would one that recorded on a dvd or vhs tape record longer? My husband and I have been noticing suspicious things around our house and we thought we would hide a camcorder to see what was going on. We figured a camcorder would be cheaper and easier to operate than security cameras plus we could also use it on trips and at get togethers and stuff....Thanks for your help!!

Aside from a full size VHS machine, I only know of one other type of machine which will record anywhere close to that long. The Hard Drive camcorders. I know Sony has a couple and I believe Panasonic or Sanyo does as well. I'm sure there are more, but depending on the Gb of the hard drive it will record up to 8 hours. Still at a relatively expensive price point, the cheapest one I've seen is $599.99. There are also some wireless Swann products, which will connect to a standard VCR and record for up to 8 hours. They start at around $180. Hope this helps
