| I was quite disappointed to note that the windows vista movie maker does not have the features of its windows xp predecessor. For one, it does not have a button that lets the user take snapshots of a movie (which I use when there are perfect scenes in a particular homemade movie that does not have any photo counterpart). Second, although the volume control can be adjusted to a lower level, it cannot be raised further because the volume control is already at its maximum. I had to find a computer with windows xp to make further edits after making the edited version of the movie to make the necessary volume adjustments. May I therefore suggest that these microsoft restore these in the next versions of windows movie maker for vista. I do not want to downgrade my operating system, and there are unique transitions in the vista movie maker not found in the windows 2000 and XP. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. It is very simple to extract a still from a video with the Print Screen key, and paste and edit the picture with a photo editor (e.g. IrfanView). If the volume is too low, then you have recorded it too low, and you should raise the main volume of the PC sound at playback. |

It's a valid complaint. My mail complaint is having to use another program to import from VCR, but I can trick Media Center into doing that. | You say that I recorded too low...for your information i am referring to the original video that i am editing...I wanted to adjust the volume to a higher level but it appears that the volume setting of the windows movie maker is set to full in windows vista (in windows xp the setting is midway)...this is what you overlooked when you answered my suggestion.
