Default Unusual Problem with Windows Movie Maker

I was just beginning my editing of a 45 minute video. Things were going fine,
and I was editing out a few minutes here and there by splitting the video and
removing the part that i didn't want. However, a problem quickly arised. The
first about... 8 seconds after each break in the video, it would freeze on
the first frame of the video, but then continue playing the video (skipping
the 8 seconds or so of video).

Weird thing was, as my editing brought me further into the movie, at about
the 10 minute mark, the freezing video was taking over 15 seconds of just
sitting there. When I would click on any point within those 15 seconds on the
time line, i could see the video that was being skipped.... So I hoped that
when I exported the video, there would be no problems. I was wrong, it froze
in all the same places, for the same lengths of time as I was having in the
movie maker.

I tried starting over again, and re-importing the video, no difference. This
makes it impossible to make a video (at least one that doesn't have several
minutes of frozen video). My guess was that maybe the large movie size /
length may have had something to do with it, but I tried cutting the video to
2 minutes, and i still have the same problem.

Any help would be appreciated.
