How do I only import those photos from a disk that I want?

I have a huge file on DVD of photos taken by someone else and only a very
few are of interest to me. I do not want to have to delete most of photos if
i import them.

You can just copy them off the disk. You really don't need to use any
program.

But if you want to tag them while copying them, then use Windows Live Photo
Gallery.
It lets you select which photos you want.
