| I have the same problem, tried the mentioned fixes with no improved results. This interesting though....... http://www.idt.com/?id=3969 PC Audio Informational Site for Windows XP and Vista Integrated Device Technologies (IDT) has acquired the SigmaTel AC-97 and High Definition Audio (HD-Audio) PC and Notebook audio codec product lines. All OEM support for SigmaTel PC Audio is now handled by IDT. For OEM sales and technical support is available directly from IDT please visit our Technical Support page for contact information. IDT currently does not provide end-user support or drivers for PC Audio products. This includes the PC and Notebook audio product lines acquired from Sigmatel. Our Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partners have requested that all technical support for their models be handled by the OEM directly. OEM refers to the Brand Name of the Personal Computer or Notebook that uses an IDT PC Audio product or solution. Please contact the manufacturer of your computer (OEM) with your question. For your convenience, a list of links to IDT's OEM partners is available in the link below. | I saw that also while googling the latest SigmaTel errors wince their update. I have been using a little program called VAC(virtual audio cable) to get by the SigmaTel problem with Vista. It has worked fine for 5 months until the SigmaTel update this week. Since then, when I try to record a screencast there is no sound on the recording. I have tried adjusting the settings in VAC, but nothing helps. This is the only problem with Vista that I just can't seem to get past. | It looks like to me that as smart as the people at Microsoft think they are they could come up with a fix for this problem and send out a warning to all Vista buyers not to buy a computer made with SigmaTel audio. And send out a fix to all current owners with recommended audio software that has not been discontinued(sold off) and is supported by the manufacturer.
