have you worked this problem out yet. i have the same problem. i bought
my pc back in jan 2007. the 1394 transfer worked correctly on ms xp. the
only thing i changed was to vista.....

I recently bought new pc with vista & therefore had to upgrade Studio 8 to
Studio ultimate for compatibility.
The only problem is that I cannot capture video from my Digital Camcorder.
I have a JVC GR-D260. When Plugged into the Pc via Firewire my pc recognises
the camcorder & names it but then tells me I am missing drivers.
I have spoken to Hewlett Packard (Pc Brand) JVC, Microsoft, Cyberlink, &
even tried Cyberlinks PowerDirector 6, all to no avail.
Can anyone please help me to resolve this problem as I am now getting rather
fed up with the whole thing!

Still no luck, I have just disabled the firewire & stuck in a new card in
the pci slot. same problem. In device manager I can still see the name of my
camcorder but requiring drivers.
Who do I blame. They will all pass the buck. The original drivers with the
installed firewire were provided by microsoft, but the camcorder souldnt need
them etc, so I recon its a vista problem & therefore micrsoft as its the only
common factor. Will someone from microsoft please sort out this issue ASAP as
I rang then in the US last week & they told me to ring HP UK cause it is an
OEM version of VISTA that I have...............I dont care!!! Its a microsoft
product........ So cmon, get the finger out & get it sorted please!

You say your PC recognizes the camera (you see some visual cue and/or
get an audible alert when the system "sees" the camera or you
disconnect it) but does Studio Ultimate DIRECTLY control the camera or
is suppose to?

If it works anything like Sony's Vegas you need to set up (just one
time) linkage with OCHI Compliant IEEE 1394 (Firewire). In Vegas this
is done from a drop down menu under Options/Preferences/Video Devices.
The camera can then be controlled from Vegas directly or with a
separate capture applet. I'll assume Studio does something similar.

Until you establish proper handshaking between the video editing
software the hardware you want to control via the Firewire connector
things won't work right.

I was looking on the Pinnacle web site and they say your product is
Vista Certified, and I also noticed they have already issued a
upgrade. Have you installed that?

and 5. jvc dv camcorde
before when i conect camcorde vista use generic driver "avc compliant dv
camcorder
and some programs donnt detect my camcorder dvgate plus and click to dvd.

Has anyone figured out a solution to this problem? I have the same problem.
For years I have captured video on my XP machine from my JVC miniDV camcorder
with Pinnacle Studio 9. I bought a new computer with Vista, which forced me
to purchase Studio 11, and now it looks like Studio sees the camcorder, but
when I try to capture, it plays the video, but the preview screen is blank,
and it doesn't capture anything. I've tried Windows Movie Maker and get the
same result. I've talked to JVC and Pinnacle, and they both say it is
something to do with Windows, probably something with the 1394 drivers.

Can anyone help?

I had similar problem with Studio 11. Found out that while in Capture tab,
cycle power off and on from the Camcorder. Studio should then recognize.
You need to do this every time. It seems to have gotten better since I
installed Hotfix from Microsoft. KB article: 930495.

Even with connection now in place, the audio is choppy. I have a Samsung
with no updated driver for Vista. Movie Maker, Roxio Capture, and AMCAP all
give same results. I'm convinced this is a Windows Vista thing. My hunch is
the Search Indexer.

If you have choppy video or audio - try defragmenting hard drive between
captures. This may improve things. But as soon as indexing and restore
points get written by Vista, defrag again.

If anyone has more information or hear of a fix, please post. Pinnacle
support is rough around the edges and I have gotten no where with them.
