Default Digital Rights Management with Windows Vista

    Dear fellow subscribers:

I am having trouble getting clips to play using Windows Vista with Windows
Media Player 11 via the UEFA.com site. I have tried following the FAQ on
http://support.uefa.com and also contacted support to no avail. They mention
reinstalling Windows Media Player 11, however, this is not possible in Vista
as far as I know. I have also tried deleting the DRM folder. Unfortunately,
this has not fixed the issue. Finally, the same clips play on my Windows XP
Pro machine without any problems. What else could be wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Rajiv

Have you tried the VLC media player? It's free and plays lots of stuff
    the WMP doesn't play.
    YMMV

    Hello,

I like VLC, but as far as I know, VLC does not play DRM-licensed content.
    See
    http://support.uefa.com/al/12/2/arti...21834945679&s=
for more info on my issue. Any other suggestions?

    Regards,

    Rajiv

    Hi,

Unfortunately, I have already consulted this article. Wondering if Windows
Live Onecare may be part of the problem? Other DRM sites work fine. If the
newsgroups don't help, I will use one of my support incidents.

    Hello,

The ending on at least some video files from the uefa.com site are *.m4v .

The free QuickTime player from Apple will play these videos......

    Apple - QuickTime - Download

    Forget Windows Media Player.........

    Hello,

One other thing on the uefa.com support site

"If you have Windows Media Player 9 and above, and are experiencing problems with your DRM licence, you may need to upgrade your security components. To upgrade the DRM components in your version of Windows Media Player, go to drmlicense.one.microsoft.com"

    Security component upgrade

    "Security component upgrade"
"This page lets you upgrade the security components of your digital media player so you can play protected files on your computer.

To upgrade your security components, click Upgrade.

Note: When you click Upgrade, your computer will connect to a Microsoft-operated Internet site and send information about your digital media player, including a unique hardware identifier. No information will be sent that can be used to personally identify you or track your activities. Microsoft will then upgrade the security components of your digital media player to ensure that it runs with optimal security. "

    Hope this helps.....
