Vista Basic spa.
I have a dvd/cd rw.
Although software did come with the drive I don't have it installed at this
time
because I'm not sure if it has the features I require.
The more I look to the internet to try to find out what software I need the
worse my
headache gets.
I'll list the things I want to accomplish and hopefully someone here can
point me in the right direction.

I'm not sure of some of the terminology either but I'll attempt to explain
the best I can

1) I want to be able play regular DVDs on my commuter.
2) While playing the dvd I want to be able to pause and clip the still and
save it as a jpg.
3) I want to be able to rip a portion of the DVD and save it to a video file
(mpeg, avi...)
4) Then I'd like to be able to rip 5 to 20 seconds of AUDIO of the ripped
video (or from the original DVD if that's possible) and save it as a wav
file.
5) Create DVDs playable on my DVD player from several video file formats
like one can do with Windows DVD Maker but isn't included in Vista Basic.

I would prefer a suite with all these feature if possible.

Any help will be appreciated,
James

Vista Corrupting jpg files

I lost over 3,000 out of 54,000 photos on a 1 TB usb drive. Fortunately, I had another drive as backup that only got 2,000 files corrupted, and most were different files. This happened several times after I first got a Vista machine several months ago. It finally took me a day to re-integrate the two sets of files to get one complete set.

I am a member of MSDN (Microsloth Developer's Network) and am an IT Manager and Systems Analyst. The most basic, fundamental thing an OS should do is not destroy files. I scoured the MS forums, and the MSDN forums and found this issue has existed since Vista was released, and that the OS was released even though they knew this problem existed. 3 years later, they have still not figured out the cause, nor any way to recover the files. (this directly from MicroSloth development team)

I installed Linux on my machine in a dual-boot configuration, and found myself returning to Vista for a week or two until I was sure of Linux's capabilities. I haven't opened Vista in over 3 months now, and don't miss it one bit. What a useless heap of garbage peddled by MicroSloth.

Right now, if I wanted to log into Vista, I'd absolutely make sure I unplugged all my external hard drives prior to doing it. I don't want to have to do that, and would kind of like to have access to my friggin files if I log into that OS. I have a free "upgrade" certificate for Windows 7 now, and am curious if anyone knows if this issue affects that OS too?

Thanks for the response, but importing to another program is not an option
for me. The files are all corrupt and my HD that had the originals is dead
and I cannot recover anything from it.

Please keep me posted and I will do the same.

Corrupted jpg files - Anyone else see this?
On my Vista Ultimate machine I create a number of jpg files. They are around
200k each. The thumbnails and files display fine. I copy the files to my
W2K3 server and they still display fine on my machine.

When my wife tries to look at the files, both the thumbnails and viewing the
files in Windows photo viewer shows corrupted images. The corruption ranges
from parts of the image missing showing grey, or with lines in it. This
persists even if we copy the images to her machine.

Has anyone seen anything like this?

Thanks

YES!!! Several times. See my other posts to several microsoft forums.

Vista file handling, especially over networks, is really nasty. I am now
afraid to copy stuff over the network. It appears to be a problem with
something called 'permissions' and is especially troublesome with USB
devices connected via networks.

I have a Vista laptop connected to my wife's desktop running XP. The desktop
is connected to an external HD by a USB port. When I copy photos from my
camera (Olympus) connected to the USB port of the laptop, via the network to
the USB HD connected to the desktop using Windows Gallery or even just by
folders, it strips the jpg markers from the files making them unreadable.

I also have found that when I import Olympus photos via Windows Gallery even
direct to the laptop, it doesn't corrupt the whole file like it does over
the network, but it still overwrites the Olympus markers that tell the
Olympus photo software that the picture is part of a panorama, thus
rendering it unable to be stitched by the Camedia software. When you look at
the files in a text editor, you can see that amongst all the hexadecimal
rubbish the english words such as "Olympus Camera" etc have been replaced by
things like "Windows Gallery" and the name of the folder you imported to.

Vista file handling is a bad joke. I advise no one to import photos using
Gallery. It's just not safe. And certainly don't use it from USB devices to
other USB devices via a network because it WILL CORRUPT YOUR JPG FILES!

Please let me know what you find out on how to fix this. I'm having the
identical problem and I'm upset that I may lose 33% of the photos I've taken
the past 8-9 years if this can't be fixed. Even when I take the external
drive and put it on my XP system, all files are corrupt now from XP.

The only sure solution I have found so far is to use Adobe Album to import
and manage the pictures instead. DO YOU HEAR THAT MICROSOFT? Your product
you made to compete with Adobe is forcing people INTO their arms, not away
from them! If anyone from MS is listening, it's in your own best interests
to fix this fast.

Moyea: Ideal SWF to Video Solution Provider

Moyea SWF to Video Converter Pro is a brilliant program which can conveniently convert SWF to Video in variety of formats like AVI, AVI with alpha, etc and convert SWF to Audio and *SWF to Image* (htp://www.swfkits.com/swf_to_video/) formats.

Moyea SWF to Video Converter Pro provides a series of perfect solutions for the following 6 headaches which other SWF to Video converters have to face. And just because of those excellent features, Moyea *SWF to Video Converter* (htp://www.swfkits.com/swf_to_video/) Pro is definitely one of the best SWF to Video converters ever.

Solution 1 for Asynchronization of Video and Audio:

The adoption of Lower-Playback-Speed technology and only-once SWF file playback when extracting audio and coverting video makes the synchronization issue is no longer a problem regardless of your computer system configurations.

Solution 2 for Low Quality Sound, Jumpy Sound, or No Sound :

Instead recording audio, Moyea directly extracts it from SWF file which ideally retains the original audio effects in the generated video files. Besides, Moyea * SWF Converter (htp://www.swfkits.com/swf_to_video/) * Pro can also rip the audio data from the source SWF files and generate independent audio files for PSP, iPod, etc.

Solution 3 for Jumpy Playback, Video with No Fluid Animations, or Unable to Process Complicated Flash:

Lower-Playback-Speed technology auto-adjusts the speed according to different computers, keeps any frame from losing and changing. Even the most complicated SWF files can be processed under the WYSIWYG(what you see is what you get) principle during SWF to Video conversion.

Solution 4 for Inability to Process Embedded Flash Videos or Linked Flash Videos:

As mentioned above, Moyea SWF to Video Converter Pro completely complies with the rule of WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). Therefore, any file that can be played by flash player can be correctly converted by Moyea SWF to Video Converter Pro, such as the embedded flash video or linked flash videos(FLV).

Solution 5 for Inability to Accomplish the Flash Alpha Effect in the Converted Video:

Moyea SWF to Video Converter Pro is able to retain the original Alpha Channel effect from the source flash in the generated video files because of the technology of pigment-analysis-comparison. This pro-exclusive function is particularly useful for advanced users, developers and designers.

Solution 6 for Limitation of Directly Using Macromedia Flash MX or Above to Export FLA as Video:

Owing to the technology of Lower-Playback-Speed and WYSIWYG effect, all the features of files are well-performed and SWF files are completely in normal playback status in Moyea
*SWF to Video (http://www.swfkits.com/swf_to_video/) * Converter Pro.

I go to a .jpg file double click and normally it would open and I would
be able to view the picture.

For some reason I can't view the picture at the moment, the Windows
picture viewer opens with an egg timer like it is waiting to open but
nothing happens.

This happened about a year ago but my partner fixed it and he doesn't
remember how, but it's been working fine for the last year!

It isn't confined to specific folders, I have read on several posts
where this has happened to people in a specific folder and has been down
to a rougue URL, but I don't see how this can be the case in this
instance.

I really hope someone can help!

So I think both mobile phones are good! With the functions of mobile are
more and more powerful. The selection criteria for mobile phones are also
different. As for me, I like watching movie and listening to music on phone,
so I have a more attention on this aspect. Both these Moto phones are
built-in media player. In CLIQ, I’ll find album art, playlists, shuffle,
repeat, and an airplane mode for in-flight media use. The interface is
simple, but easy to navigate and the player supports several file formats,
such as: video formats: H.264, H.263, MPEG 4, YouTube, MPEG 4, 3GP and audio
formats: AAC, MP3, WAV, MIDI, AMR NB and AAC+. For Droid, there aren't any
major enhancements to the player in terms of interface or functionality,
which is too bad. You still get support for MP3, AAC, AMR-NB, WAV, MIDI (to
name a few), and Windows Media Audio 9 formats and the player includes
shuffle, repeat, and playlist creation. You can advance and revisit previous
tracks by tapping the forward and back buttons or you can swipe the album
covers using the touch screen. They are good Multimedia phone, but only one,
they could support all of video or audio formats. So I search it On Google
and I find a good assistant for Motorola phone
– Nidesoft
Motorola Video Converter (http://www.nidesoft.com/motorola-video-converter.html) which could help to convert your video files
to MP4, AVI, WMV, MP3 and play on Motorola phone easily. Below I’ll share you
how to use it!
Firstly,
download
this software (http://www.nidesoft.com/downloads/motorola-video-converter.exe) and install it.
Step 1: Launch the program and Click "Add File" button to load source video
files to be converted
Image: http://www.nidesoft.com/forum/motorola-converter/motorola-video-converter-1.jpg
Step 2: make settings: click “format” drop list to select “Motorola MPEG-4
Video (*.mp4)” as output video format. Set your video size and quality under
the preview window.
Step 3: Click "Convert" button to start to convert video format.
After the file is converted, just transfer the file to the videos folder on
your Motorola and enjoy your newly created video. Another, I know
Nidesoft DVD to
Motorola Converter (http://www.nidesoft.com/dvd-to-motorola-converter.html) could rip DVD to Motorola phone video and music:
3GP, AVI, WMV, MP4, WMA etc. So, it is not a problem to watch your favorite
DVD on mobile phone. I think these two Nidesoft software are necessary
additional software for MOTOROLA mobile phone users.

Although the shell is different, but Motorola Droid and apple iPhone
internal is very similar. And compared the before mobile phones using Android
operation system, the Droid had a great performance, application and the
speed of opening menu, scrolling list and switching the screen goes really
fast. Some analysts believe the Droid is the best of MOTOROLA phone since
2005 and Cliq is the first step of MOTOROLA mobile department to turnaround.
For MOTOROLA, the success of publishing two mobile phone, not only indicates
the formerly overlord comeback, and for users to regain their confidence has
also played a very positive role. Next, let’s us look forward to Motorola
numerous sales! Wish Moto good luck!
