Default Ripping a Low Volume CD

I have a CD whose original recording volume is on the low side. I desire to
rip it in a way that the volume on the ripped file is at a higher level than
on the CD. I have been using Windows Media Player 11 on Vista for ripping,
but can't figure out how to enhance/raise the volume during the ripping.

1. Is this even possible with Windows Media Player 11?
2. Is there another ripping program that will accommodate ripping to higher
volumes?

Thanks,
